Chan Meng Kee, SS2

Chan Meng Kee Noodle House

There are tons of reviews on the internet about the famous Chan Meng Kee wanton noodle outlet. Some positive and some, well, not so positive. Now, let me share mine. I have tried wanton noodles from some 5 star restaurants, with prices ranging from RM18 to RM28 for a plate. With that price range, the plate of noodle should have been terribly good, right? Not necessarily. I have tried bad tasting noodles, served by 5 star quality restaurant/hotel with a fancy price tag (I wont quote from which as my blog is not to defame others).

Chan Meng Kee's wanton noodle is comparatively one of the better ones you can find in Petaling Jaya. Among its peers within the prices of RM5 to RM10, Chan Meng Kee serves the most juiciest Char Siu, crispy roasted pork and crispy chicken. Taken over from the legendary 'Ho Weng Kee', they are doing very well in preserving the standard. Their noodles are springy and tasteful with lard fritters. The meat servings are cut through thick slices.

Their price is affordable. A normal char siu wanton noodle at RM6 (regular) and RM7 (for large). Plenty of varieties to select from. They serve a wide array of side dishes such as braised chicken feet with mushrooms, stewed curry pork ribs, braised beef briskets and more. Their char siu is thick, juicy and succulent.

On contrary to the traditional style, they also serve wanton noodle curry based soup. This is also one of their best sellers. Come on down to SS2 and give Chan Meng Kee a try. Be early though, the queue can be extremely long.
